Let's Get Healthy together!

Is organic enough?

At one of my recent evening classes this last spring, a lady made the comment that she bought organic produce whenever possible.  I asked her where she got it to which she replied a major food chain known for its commitment to organics. I told her that was far better than eating pesticide laced conventional produce, but that it wasn't  a perfect solution. With a puzzled look on her face she asked, "Why not?" I asked her to take a look out the window at the snow on the ground. Where do you think this organic lettuce  was grown? Here in New Jersey? Probably not unless it was grown in a hot house or hydroponically indoors. The chances were better than average that it was grown in Florida, the south western US or Mexico. In fact it may have traveled north on the same train as the conventional produce grown a few miles down the road.  Although her lettuce was organic, it was still "dead food" just like the conventional produce on the store shelf next to it.  Our bodies perform better on live food. The cave men were hunters and gatherers originally. They picked their nuts and berries and ate them immediately. They were getting maximum nutritional benefit.  Always remember this. Eat fresh, local and organic whenever possible. During those cold winter months grow sprouts, micro greens or baby greens under a plant light right in your own home.  You can harvest them and enjoy their delicious nutrition within minutes. Plus you should try to get to know your local farmer or grower. Know where your food id coming from.  Join a local Community Supported  Agriculture group (CSA) if possible. Your body will thank you.

I didn`t know that either. When we all buy something organic from a store, we all think it is real organic. But after reading this, i`ll be more careful what i choose.
Thank you.

Very true. Just make sure you are using organic seeds designated for micro greens as these seeds have no coatings. Also use organic germinating soil mix. This will help guarantee the purity of your micro greens. Allow filtered tap water to sit for about two days and then adjust pH to 6.0. Use this to water your greens. Better still, use bottled water which has been adjusted to 6.0 This is one crop you can grow year round indoors for healthy living. Thanks for your comment. Don
